Did you know that the University of Colorado Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in Colorado and one of a few Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation? CancerCure’s committed financial support contributes to the Center’s ability to remain competitive and retain its position as one of the elite centers.
It is one of only a handful of recognized consortiums in the nation and includes academic partners from University of Colorado Denver, University of Colorado Boulder, and Colorado State University along with five outstanding medical centers. In 2013, the CU Cancer Center was elected as a member of the elite National Comprehensive Network, an organization that establishes and delivers the gold standard in cancer clinical care.
In a letter from CU Cancer Center director Dr. Dan Theodorescu dated Nov. 11, 2011, he states “The collaborative research conducted within and among these diverse consortium member institutions provides a distinct advantage translating laboratory research into clinical practice and makes sure the funds go to the most appropriate cancer research projects regardless of where they are in Colorado. These efforts, supported in part by the funds provided by CancerCure, bring us closer to our goal of providing personalized and state-of-the-art cancer therapy to our patients.”
